Sixth Form - Educational Maintenance Allowance

Students wishing to stay on in the Sixth Form from Sept 2010, will automatically be eligible to apply for the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA).

EMA is a weekly payment of £10, £20 or £30 for students who are aged 16 and planning to stay in Further Education. During the year 2 bonus payments of £100 will be made to the students if they remain on their course, make excellent progress with their learning and take part in varied enrichment events taking place throughout the school year.

EMA payments are made to the student. An operational bank account will therefore be required.

Students will be awarded the EMA payment if they meet the criteria set out by EMA and the school contract.

This contract will clearly set out the schools expectations if the student wishes to receive their payment. EMA is in place to reward the students for their attendance however effort, involvement and progress will also considered as factors.

Application information and packs will be available through the school during the year.
