Performance Management and the Power of Coaching

Performance Management can seem like a process which just gets in the way of the business of starting a new term but actually it can be an essential component in setting everyone off in the same direction, and then challenging them in an on-going way to focus on enhancing the learning for children and developing their own confidence and competence.

In the autumn term we run a  twilight or half day session to refresh and reinvigorate staff covering:

  • Planning for effective Performance Management meetings
  • Monitoring and evidencing progress against targets
  • Setting and recording appropriate targets
  • Motivating staff for change and handling difficult conversations
  • Spotting suitable CPD opportunities including linking this to coaching as a highly effective CPD tool

But of course the review of progress and setting of objectives is just a step in the process and so aligned to this session we have a series of six coaching skills sessions which will help you build your capabilities to support reviewees to focus on their objectives as they progress through the year. Delivered as twilight sessions for busy line managers, these sessions will help you build your competence to listen and question effectively, tease out the limiting self-beliefs of staff and hold them to account for their action plans to meet their core objectives. This whole programme is accessible to the first member of your team for £195 and then £155 for subsequent members of staff. Covering a whole year with seven practical sessions we hope that this will help you to maximise the impact of the performance management process on your team and whole school.

We are also scheduling sessions on "Observations for Teacher Learning", "Performance Management for Administrative Staff" and maximising the potential of PM systems such as Blue Sky.
