Every teacher seeks to be able to deliver outstanding lessons where sparkling learning is widespread but this doesn’t happen without paying close and regular attention to some of the techniques and strategies that the evidence tells us make a difference to pupils. It’s a bit like driving a car – we need to be so comfortable with the approaches and so secure in our skills that we can cope with a variety of conditions, a change of direction, handle distractions and even respond well to the odd calamity.
We don’t have the “magic bullet” for achieving this but we have a range of approaches which are helping our teachers to move to this level of sophistication and we want to share this journey with other schools. Our Summer 2012 programme of Teaching and Learning CPD incorporates a range of sessions to enhance your Teaching practice. Some cover all subject areas e.g. Jazzing up your Lessons and other sessions are more subject focused on Maths or Science provision.
Our 2012/13 programme will offer a even wider range of topics including the following:
- Using Learning Objectives effectively
- High level questioning
- Group work and encouraging effective classroom talk
- Moving Teaching from good to Outstanding
- Differentiation and challenge – Teaching to the top
- Teaching an ethnically and socially diverse classroom and using childrens’ contexts to ground their learning
- Independent Learning
- How to get best educational impact from the TA in your classroom
- Bright Ideas for using Technology and ICT
To supplement these sessions there are optional CPD opportunities which you can join such as our lunchtime programme of half termly Teachers’ TV sessions where we review programmes and discuss our reflections and an informal Teaching and Learning Cafe where teachers share a new technique and how this is working for them and could for you.
We would like your feedback on how interested you and your staff would be in joining Windsor colleagues at these sessions. Please click here to give us your feedback and shape our CPD programme to meet local needs.
